Schedule Changes Effective Monday, November 9th, 2020


A new CTrail Shore Line East schedule will take effect on Monday, November 9th, 2020.

The following CTrail Shore Line East train will have new departure/arrival times effective Monday, November 9th, 2020:

Weekday:

  • CTrail 3037 Departing Old Saybrook at 12:33 PM
    • Will replace 3637 on weekdays
    • Will board on Track 4 at Guilford
    • Will board on Track 2 at Branford
  • CTrail 3645 Departing New London at 2:15 PM
  • CTrail 3610 Departing New Haven at 10:25 AM
  • CTrail 3618 Departing New Haven at 12:24 PM

Weekend:

  • CTrail 3629 Departing New London at 10:22 AM
  • CTrail 3645 Departing New London at 2:15 PM
  • CTrail 3655 Departing Old Saybrook at 5:45 PM
  • CTrail 3610 Departing New Haven at 10:25 AM
  • CTrail 3618 Departing New Haven at 12:24 PM
  • CTrail 3638 Departing New Haven at 5:30 PM

Columbus Day Weekend Schedule 2020


CTrail Shore Line East will operate on a regular weekend/holiday schedule for Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, 2020.

CTrail Shore Line East will operate on a regular weekday schedule for Columbus Day, October 12, 2020.

Oct. 10th – 11th: Scheduled Track Work Affects Boarding at Branford Station


Due to scheduled track work, all trains will be boarding on Track 2 at the Branford Station on Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th.

Shore Line East Service Adjustment Effective October 3rd, 2020


The following CTrail Shore Line East weekend trains will have service adjustments effective Saturday, October 3rd, 2020:

  • Weekend Train 3645 will be renamed to Train 3045.
    • New London departure time: 2:27 PM
    • New Haven Union Station arrival time: 3:34 PM
    • Train 3645 will now operate weekdays only without any schedule adjustments
  • Weekend Train 3600 will be renamed to Train 3692.
    • New Haven Union Station departure time: 6:50 AM
    • New London arrival time: 8:02 AM
    • Train 3600 will now operate weekdays only without any schedule adjustments
  • Weekend Train 3661
    • New London departure time: 7:25 PM
    • New Haven Union Station arrival time: 8:30 PM

Labor Day Weekend Schedule


Due to the Labor Day Holiday, please note that CTrail Shore Line East will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule for Saturday, September 5, through Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2020.

Passengers are advised to review the COVID-19 travel requirements prior to travel.

New Haven Line (Metro-North) connections will operate on a Sunday schedule for Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2020. Please refer to the New Haven Line (Metro-North) schedule for special train times.

CTrail Hartford Line will operate on a Sunday schedule for Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2020. Please refer to the Sunday schedule for all CTrail Hartford Line and Amtrak trains.



Weekday Schedule Adjustments for Trains 3621 and 3661 Beginning August 31


Two Weekday CTrail Shore Line East trains will have schedule adjustments beginning Monday, August 31:

  • Weekday train 3621 is being replaced with train 3021, with the following station times:
    • New London: 8:20 AM
    • Old Saybrook: 8:48 AM
    • Westbrook: 8:53 AM
    • Clinton: 8:58 AM
    • Madison: 9:03 AM
    • Guilford: 9:09 AM
    • Branford: 9:18 AM
    • New Haven State Street: 9:32 AM
    • New Haven Union: 9:35 AM
  • Weekday train 3661 is being replaced with train 3061, with the following station times:
    • New London: 7:25 PM
    • Old Saybrook: 7:50 PM
    • Westbrook: 7:55 PM
    • Clinton: NO STOP
    • Madison: NO STOP
    • Guilford: 8:06 PM
    • Branford: 8:14 PM
    • New Haven State Street: 8:26 PM
    • New Haven Union: 8:30 PM

Weekend trains 3621 and 3661 will continue to operate on the weekend/holiday schedule.

In addition to the changes above, there is track work scheduled between Old Saybrook and New London beginning 8/31 which may cause service delays.

Passengers are advised to review the COVID-19 travel requirements prior to travel.

Cash Ticket Sales to Return On Board CTrail Shore Line East Trains Effective Monday, July 27


Effective Monday, July 27, cash ticket sales will resume on board CTrail Shore Line East trains. However, cash transactions remain suspended at ticket windows.

  • Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets prior to boarding using the CTrail eTix app (available for Android and Apple iOS mobile devices) for CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and connecting New Haven Line (Metro-North) trains. Ticket vending machines (TVM) are also available at New Haven Union Station and State Street Station.
  • Customers should purchase tickets ahead of time for all Amtrak trains using the CTrail eTix App or a CTrail TVM.
    Amtrak is currently not honoring SLE Multi-Ride Tickets on board their trains until further notice.

In addition to the service changes above, customers are reminded of the COVID-19 travel advisories below:

  • Wear a mask or face covering on all trains, in stations, and on platforms, unless you have a medical condition that prevents you from doing so. Children under the age of two do not require a mask. Please be aware that Amtrak requires the use of face masks on board their trains.
  • Use social distancing while waiting at rail stations and riding trains. The CDC recommends keeping a distance of at least six feet from others.
  • Do not use public transportation if you feel sick.


Amtrak Cross-Honoring of SLE Multi-Ride Suspended Until Further Notice


Reminder to CTrail Shore Line East Customers:

Amtrak Cross-Honoring of Shore Line East Multi-Ride tickets is suspended until further notice.

In addition to the service changes above, riders are reminded of the COVID-19 travel advisories below:

  • Purchase tickets prior to boarding using a ticket vending machine or the CTrail eTix app for CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and connecting New Haven Line (Metro-North) trains. Cash transactions are suspended on board trains and at ticket offices.
  • Customers should wear a mask or face covering on all trains, stations, and platforms, unless you have a medical condition that prevents you from doing so. Children under two do not require a mask. Please be aware that Amtrak requires the use of face masks.

July 4th Weekend Schedule


CTrail Shore Line East will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule for Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day.

Effective July 1, Amtrak is not cross-honoring SLE Multi-Ride Tickets on their trains until further notice.

In addition to the service changes above, customers are reminded of the COVID-19 travel advisories below:

  • Purchase tickets prior to boarding using a ticket vending machine or the CTrail eTix app for CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and connecting New Haven Line (Metro-North) trains.
  • Customers should wear a mask or face covering on all trains, in stations, and on platforms, unless you have a medical condition that prevents you from doing so. Children under two do not require a mask. Please be aware that Amtrak requires the use of face masks.

COVID-19 Travel Requirements Updated 6/10


The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is continuing its safety measures on all of its public transportation services as the state moves to re-open after the COVID-19 outbreak.

The safety of our customers and operating personnel is of the highest importance. CTDOT’s safety measures are based on the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other state and federal health agencies and experts. These actions, which began in March, are being conducted for all CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and New Haven Line (Metro-North) commuter rail services, as well as for all CTtransit and local transit district bus services throughout the state.

Safety measures include:

  • Nightly sanitizing of all trains and buses including an interior wipe down of high contact surfaces using enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols recommended by the CDC.
  • Increased cleaning of stations using CDC-recommended cleaning products and methods.
  • Touchpoints such as door handles, escalator handrails, and elevator buttons are being wiped down multiple times each day at our busiest train stations, Stamford, Bridgeport, and New Haven.

In addition to the service changes above, riders are reminded of the COVID-19 travel advisories below:

EFFECTIVE 6/1: Schedule Update


The following schedule adjustments will take effect on Monday, June 1:

  • Train 3627 will operate Monday-Friday only, departing New London at 10:12 AM.
  • Train 3657 will operate Monday-Friday only, departing Old Saybrook at 5:30 PM.
  • Train 3636 will operate Monday-Friday only, departing New Haven Union Station at 5:25 PM.
  • Trains 3629, 3655, and 3638 will ONLY operate on weekends.

EFFECTIVE MONDAY, 5/11: Face Masks Required for Travel on Amtrak Trains


Effective Monday, 5/11, face masks or face coverings are now required on all Amtrak trains. If you do not have a mask available the crew will provide one for you to wear onboard the train.

CTrail Hartford Line and CTrail Shore Line East trains are still adhering to the State of Connecticut’s policy which highly encourages customers to wear face masks or coverings. Click here for more information on the face mask policy specific to CTrail Hartford Line and CTrail Shore Line East trains.

Updated COVID-19 Travel Requirements – April 20, 2020


Protect your family and ours by stopping the spread. Passengers should wear a mask or cloth face covering on all CTrail Shore Line East trains and at CTrail stations. And remember, public transportation is for essential travel only. Do your part to protect our #heroesmovingheroes and we’ll do ours to keep CT moving safely during this coronavirus emergency.

The Governor issued EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 7BB, effective Monday, April 20, 2020, at 8:00 pm, requesting the use of face masks or face covering when it is not possible to maintain a safe distance of six feet or more from others while in public. All passengers are requested to wear a face mask or face covering at all times whenever a six-foot distance from other people cannot be safely maintained on CTrail Shore Line East trains, any other public transportation service in Connecticut, and within any semi-enclosed transit stop, waiting area, or CTrail station.

This Order is in addition to the requirement that public transportation is to be used for essential travel only such as getting to and from work or for procuring essential needs. Customers who feel sick should not use public transportation.

Nothing in this order shall require the use of a mask or cloth face covering by anyone for whom doing so would be contrary to his or her health or safety because of a medical condition, a child in a child care setting, anyone under the age of 2 years, or an older child if the parent, guardian or person responsible for the child is unable to place the mask safely on the child’s face. If a person declines to wear a mask or face covering because of a medical condition as described above, such person shall not be required to produce medical documentation verifying the stated condition.

EFFECTIVE 4/20: All CTrail Shore Line East Trains Operating on a Reduced Schedule


EFFECTIVE 4/20/2020: ALL CTrail Shore Line East trains will operate on a reduced schedule until further notice.

  • Please refer to the reduced schedule here for all travel beginning Monday, April 20.
  • All cash sales are suspended for all trains. Please use a ticket vending machine or the CTrail eTix app for CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and connecting New Haven Line (Metro-North) train tickets prior to boarding.
  • New Haven Line (Metro-North) and Amtrak are also operating reduced schedules during this time. All CTrail Shore Line East customers should refer to Amtrak Northeast Corridor and New Haven Line (Metro-North) schedules for connection information.

EFFECTIVE 3/16: All Weekday CTrail Shore Line East Trains Operating on a Weekend Schedule


As part of the state’s effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, effective Monday, March 16th, all weekday (Monday – Friday) CTrail Shore Line East trains will operate on a weekend schedule, with extra trains available.

  • Extra Weekday trains:
    • Westbound (To New Haven):
      • 3609 departing New London at 5:24 AM
      • 3615 departing Old Saybrook at 7:48 AM
      • 3647 departing Old Saybrook at 4:27 PM
    • Eastbound (To Old Saybrook):
      • 3630 departing New Haven at 3:25 PM
  • Weekend trains will continue to operate as scheduled on their respective days – there are no extra trains available on Weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Please reference this schedule for all travel Monday – Friday until further notice
  • Avoid the ticket windows and save time by using our new CTrail eTix app for CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and connecting New Haven Line (Metro-North) train tickets. Click here for more information.
  • Amtrak is not cross-honoring SLE Multi-Ride Tickets on their trains during this time
  • Effective 3/19: All cash sales are suspended for all trains. Please use the CTrail eTix app or a ticket vending machine (where available) to purchase tickets.
  • CTrail Shore Line East through trains to/from Stamford are not running during this time; customers must transfer to Amtrak or New Haven Line services at New Haven Union Station
  • New Haven Line (Metro-North) operating a reduced daily schedule beginning Monday, April 13. Please double check all connections at MTA.info/mnr.
  • All CTrail Shore Line East customers should refer to Amtrak Northeast Corridor and New Haven Line (Metro-North) schedules for connection information

At CTrail, the safety of our customers and employees is of the highest importance. These actions, which began the week of March 1, 2020, are being conducted for all CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and New Haven Line (Metro-North) commuter rail services. These measures include:

  • Station operators have increased cleaning of stations using CDC-recommended cleaning products and methods
  • At our busiest stations, Stamford, Bridgeport and New Haven, touchpoints such as door handles, escalator handrails, and elevator buttons are being wiped down multiple times each day

The State of Connecticut is taking various actions to respond to the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). CTrail is also staying in constant communication with state and federal emergency management agencies to adjust our protocols, if necessary.

We will continue to respond to the latest on COVID-19 with the safety of our customers and employees as our highest priority.
