Updates on What's Going on at CTrail Shore Line East



New Schedule Beginning December 18, 2022


A new schedule will go into effect on Sunday, December 18, 2022 that reflects service updates following the completion of construction projects at the Madison station.

We thank you for your cooperation and patience during the past two weeks. While inconvenient, each of these projects is part of the ongoing infrastructure enhancements to increase service reliability and make the system more efficient.

Service Adjustments at Madison Station Beginning November 28


Due to construction and track work, the trains noted below will have service adjustments at the Madison station from November 28 through December 17.

 

Weekday trains

  • 1652 – SLE train 1652 will bypass Madison station. Customers traveling to Madison station will take the train to Guilford station and board a bus. If going past Madison station, you will stay on the train to continue your trip. Passengers traveling from Madison station east to New London will need to take the train from Clinton station
  • 1627 (Starting on 11/29) – SLE train 1627 will bypass Madison station. Customers traveling from Madison will board a bus to New Haven Union Station or any intermediate stops. Those customers departing from Guilford, Branford, or New Haven State Street, will not be impacted and will board train 1627 into New Haven Union Station. Customers traveling to Madison should use a later train.
  • Trains 1627 and 1652 will stop on track 1 at Westbrook station and Clinton station

 

Weekend trains

  • 3613 (Saturdays only) – SLE train 3613 will bypass Madison station. Customers traveling west to New Haven station will board a bus at Madison Station. Those customers departing from Guilford, Branford, or New Haven State Street, will not be impacted and will board train 3613 into New Haven Union Station
  • Train 3613 on Saturdays will stop on track 1 at Westbrook station and Clinton station

THANKSGIVING SCHEDULE UPDATE


On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, we will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule.

Travelers going beyond New Haven are advised to check with the connecting transportation operator for their schedule information.

CTrail eTix iPhone Issues Fixed


The technical difficulties with the CTrail eTix app for iPhone users have been resolved.

Customers will need to update their app from the Apple store to version 1.9.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience.



CTRAIL ETIX APP IPHONE TECHNICAL UPDATE


We are aware that some customers using the CTrail eTix app on an iPhone may be experiencing technical difficulties. Our technicians are currently working to resolve it as soon as possible. In the meantime, passengers can purchase tickets in the following ways:

  • At any ticket vending machine available at New Haven State Street and New Haven Union Station.
  • Full-service ticket windows are located at New London, Old Saybrook, and New Haven Union Station.
  • Onboard all CTrail Shore Line East trains with cash only.

VETERANS DAY SCHEDULE


CTrail Shore Line East trains will operate a regular weekday schedule on Veterans Day, November 11.

CTrail e-Tix App Fixed


The technical difficulties with the CTrail eTix app have been resolved, and the app is now working.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience.



CTrail e-Tix App Outage


We are aware that some customers are currently experiencing technical difficulties using the CTrail eTix app, and we are working to resolve it as soon as possible. In the meantime, passengers can purchase tickets in the following ways:

  • At any ticket vending machine available at New Haven State Street and New Haven Union Station
  • At full-service ticket windows located at New London, Old Saybrook, and New Haven Union Station
  • Onboard all CTrail Shore Line East trains with cash only

CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENTS (OCT. 22-23 & 29-30)


Due to construction and track work in Branford, schedule times and track boarding assignments will be adjusted for the weekends of October 22-23 and 29-30.

The work between New Haven and Guilford each weekend will leave only one track open for train traffic. Additionally, the trains below will be substituted with bus service.

  • Eastbound (To New London) train #3610
  • Westbound (To New Haven) train #3637

Columbus Day Weekend Schedule


CTrail Shore Line East will operate on the following schedules during Columbus Day weekend:

  • Saturday and Sunday, October 8 – 9, 2022: All trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule.
  • Columbus Day, Monday, October 10, 2022: All trains will operate on a regular weekday schedule.

Service Suspended Due to Flooding


Due to heavy rainfall and flooding, CTrail Shore Line East has suspended all service until further notice.

Our ground crews are evaluating the situation and fixing any weather-related damages so we can resume service as conditions safely allow.

Passengers who have bus and rail connections are advised to check with all operators prior to travel.

We will provide updates on our website as they become available.



Restoration of Service


CTrail Shore Line East has resumed service. Passengers should expect residual delays from the track flooding.



Labor Day Schedule


CTrail Shore Line East will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule on Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2022.

Weekend Schedule Adjustments


Due to construction and track work in Branford, schedule adjustments will be made on the weekends of August 6-7 and August 13-14. The work will require single tracking between New Haven and Guilford each weekend, which leaves only one track open for train traffic.

Schedule adjustments have been made to most trains. In addition, train 3610 eastbound and train 3637 westbound will have bus substitutions instead of operating as a train.

The work will also require that Branford and Guilford board and drop off all passengers at a single platform each weekend. On August 6-7, all trains will stop on Track 1 at Branford and Guilford. On August 13-14, all trains will stop on Track 2 at Branford and Track 4 at Guilford.

Schedule Change Beginning July 11, 2022


A new schedule will go into effect on Monday, July 11, 2022. This updated schedule will reflect operational improvements for the new M8 equipment, as well as changes made to the Metro-North schedule.



Train It to Sailfest This Weekend – July 8-10


With large crowds, road closures, and limited parking, it’s the perfect time to leave the car behind and take the train to this year’s Sailfest! CTrail Shore Line East stops in the heart of downtown New London and right in the middle of Sailfest fun!

From Friday, July 8th – Sunday, July 10th, this three-day festival, held at Waterfront Park, will feature amusement rides, free entertainment, ships, over 200 food vendors, and a major fireworks display on Saturday night.

New London Union Station is just a short walk to the festivities, so CTrail Shore Line East is the perfect option to get you there. Expanded capacity on several of our trains makes for a stress-free and comfortable ride. Even catching the fireworks is easy as CTrail Shore Line East will offer service departing New London at 10:50 PM, and arriving at New Haven Union Station at 11:53 PM.



Independence Day Schedule Change


CTrail Shore Line East trains will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule on Monday, July 4, 2022, in observance of Independence Day.



Juneteenth Holiday Schedule


CTrail Shore Line East, CTrail Hartford Line, and Metro-North will all operate on a regular weekday schedule for the Juneteenth holiday, Monday, June 20, 2022.
